HONG KONG DISNEYLAND

Asian culture with Disney characters

Today we travelled to Hong Kong Disneyland, which was just like the American Disneyland with the same characters, rides. Hong Kong Disneyland was open in 2005, the famous attraction for Hong Kong’s families and visitors. We found the entrance fee to be quite reasonable at 350 Hong Kong Dollars which equals to $45 USD, for children the price comes to $250 Hong Kong dollars or $33 USD which is a good price for a full day of fun. What makes Hong Kong Disneyland more unique than the American version is that it has that taste of Asia, e.g. Real Asian cuisine can be eaten at local restaurants. We strongly recommend going to Hong Kong Disneyland, because of its very interesting combination of Asian culture with Disney characters.

HONG KONG OUTLYING ISLANDS

Around main islands we found some outlying islands, the largest island of Cheung Chau is located 12km west of Hong Kong, and must be visited if you are around the area. The 2nd largest outlying island is Lamma. In the island of Lantau we found very beautiful Buddhist monasteries, the name of this monastery is Po Lin and it’s located at 520 meters above sea level. This monastery was built like a complex with 3 temples, 3 statues of Buddha, and one giant statue of a sitting Buddha, which was made from bronze in 1993. Included in this complex were many gorgeous vegetarian restaurants, we ate some delicious noodles with tomato juice. In this monastery area we saw beautiful tea garden, they offered us a few samples of different kinds of cultural Chinese teas, and we were fascinated by the distinct taste of each tea. Later on in the day we walked 1 and a half hours to the Tung Chung fort, we were fortunate enough to see the beautiful Han Wong Monastery, which was built 200 years ago. Later that day we swam in the South China Sea, in a special area that had barriers that protected the swimmers from potential shark attacks. The next day we visited the Ten Thousand Buddha’s Monastery and were in shock at how beautiful the site was, with 400 steps to get to the top of the hill, in the top of the hill over 12800 statues of Buddha’s, all the statues were different. These Islands are incredible and they must be visited because of the incredible cultural experience and scenic views that can be witnessed.

JUMBO KINGDOM

A FLOATING RESTAURANT IN HONG KONG

This restaurant floating on a ship on the river was simply incredible, this is one of Hong Kong’s top attractions. The Jumbo Kingdom consists of 2 main restaurants the Jumbo Floating restaurant and the Tai Pak floating restaurant. Inside the Jumbo Kingdom we were shocked to find some incredible areas, like the Chinese Tea Garden and the Bronze ware Garden, and on the first level of the boat is the Dragon Court, which is fine Chinese and authentic Cantonese food, the restaurant is also very uniquely designed with a mixture of Ming Dynasty and contemporary Chinese designs. Many famous people have dined at the Jumbo Kingdom, like Queen Elizabeth II, John Wayne, Tom Cruise and country celebrity Chow Yun Fat, making this even more of a tourist attraction. The view at night itself is worth the admission; the food here is one of a kind, making this one of Hong Kong’s most treasured tourist attractions.

STANLEY MARKET

We went to Stanley Market and were shocked at the incredible array of products that were being sold, from silk garments, to traditional Chinese artwork, sportswear, and Chinese costumes, jewelry, and souvenirs, they had it all. The Stanley Market area also has some historic buildings which include Shui Sin Temple, To Ti Temple, the Old Stanley Police Station and Stable, and the Blake Pier at Stanley is among some of the historic riches that this area has. The food we ate at the local restaurants was also very delicious from its Chinese cuisine to its western cuisine the food was nothing short of splendid! Stanley Market is a place that must be visited while in the Hong Kong Island area, the bargains here are incredible for the unique product that you purchase.
